What goes into creating music?
Well lets see...I create my instrumental tracks with a keyboard(Korg TRITON) and acoustic guitar. Back in 2000 digital recording on a PC hadn't really become that popular, so I learned how to record my music and vocals on a Roland multi-track digital disk recorder. Now in 2011 it is a lot easier to record and mix music using software on your personal computer. But for bragging rights...this girl knows how to use an old school multi-track board. I endured the headache of bouncing tracks to make room for more because I loved multi-part harmonies, which you will get a chance to hear.
Back in 1997-2000 I was in a band called RareBlends. It consisted of a lead guitarist (Rob Deguzman), bass player (Chuck Dawson), drummer (Mike Brown followed by Chuck Richardson) and me as the lead vocalist. During this time I was attending Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond and enjoyed every moment of the carefree college rockstar life. After I graduated from VCU and all the band members moved on to the next chapter in their life, I realized I needed an outlet to create my own music. With my degree in hand I entered the corporate world and spent my first paycheck on purchasing a Korg TRITON keyboard and Roland multi-track digital recorder. I taught myself how to use all the equipment and learned how to pick out a couple of chords on a guitar.
12 years later I have created a huge amount of music and never shared it with more than a couple of friends. Music is meant to be enjoyed and heard by many. I can't let all this music sit around on old hard-drives, disks and CDs and not let other folks hear the sounds that have brought so much joy to my life. So I have decided to share all the music that I created throughout the years and the years to come. Feel free to check back and hear what song I have pulled from the vault or hear a new song in the works. Enjoy...
